Selvages

Ok, I know I said I would never do a selvage project. I borrowed the book "Quilts from the Selvage Edge" from the library, and some of the project were really cool. I still didn't feel these projects were for me. I guess my advice is - never say never. I found some really great links and tutorials at http://selvageblog.blogspot.com/ . It is a great place to look for inspiration. I took the plunge when I read this tutorial at http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/2008/09/gifts-to-create-for-christmas-08.html. A checkbook cover! I actually needed one of these! Since I never keep the selvages, I actually had to cut the selvages off of fabric from stash to get enough. I am very pleased with how my project turned out. I think I may venture to pincushions or a zipper coin purse next.

I am a huge fan. Maybe by using the selvages, you'll have money left for the checks!

I'm the same -- I doubt I'll ever do a big project or quilt from selvages but I've had fun making some postcards.
